The Client: Galliard Homes is one of the UK’s leading residential property developers. For their new landmark housing development at Lower Essex Street, Birmingham, they required a high-capacity ventilation solution for their modern residential flats.


The Brief: The project required a robust natural ventilation solution to ensure maximum airflow and safety for residents. Adhering strictly to Building Regulations, the system needed to provide a significant opening stroke while remaining easy to operate for occupants. The hardware finish needed to be a sleek black to match the contemporary aesthetic of the residential units.


The Solution: We supplied and installed a specialist manual window control system using high-performance Teleflex gearing. To meet the ventilation requirements, we utilized 380mm Chain Openers—offering a larger opening than standard actuators—paired with XL Midi Operators for smooth, high-torque winding.

Why We Chose the 380mm Chain & XL Midi System.

We selected the 380mm chain for this project to ensure the development met strict Building Regulation requirements for natural airflow. Because some vents required operating three chains simultaneously, the XL Midi Operator was the essential choice; its increased internal gearing provides the necessary leverage for residents to operate multiple openers effortlessly.
